This book is divided into 4 chapters: Question Types, Non-academic Subjects, Academic Subjects, and Practice Test.
Chapter 1 covers 6 question types which are often found in the TOEFL Junior Reading test: main idea, purpose, inference, reference, word meaning, and detail. Each type of questions introduces typical questions, test-taking strategies, and a sample.
Chapter 2 introduces non-academic subjects including e-mails and letters, notices and announcements, and stories. Each subject focuses on an introduction to a particular text type together with a practice set providing learners with 4 reading passages and each of which is followed by a number of comprehension questions. Lastly, at the end of each text type, a vocabulary list coupled with related exercises is given for practice.
Chapter 3 presents 9 academic subjects which are astronomy, biology, archeology, sport, architecture, geography, celebrities, humanities, and life. Unlike Chapter 2, each subject in this chapter just provides a practice set that is comprised of a number of short passages followed by a series of questions which are typical of those in an actual test.
Chapter 4 provides a practice test which, firstly, helps learners familiarize themselves with the format of the actual TOEFL JuniorReading test and, secondly, checks their progress after using the book.
